Alison Blickle’s paintings depict women engaged in mysterious ceremonies. Each body of work is presented as a narrative, exploring powerful female archetypes found in mythology. Blickle’s recent work reimagines ancient myths, setting the stories in our modern world, and weaving their themes into our current social and political happenings.

Alison Blickle is an artist based in Los Angeles. She received her MFA from Hunter College in New York (2009) and her BFA from California College of the Arts in San Francisco (2006). Blickle has exhibited widely in the United States, Europe and Asia, with recent solo exhibitions at Kravets Wehby Gallery in New York, and Over The Influence Gallery in Los Angeles. Her work has been included in group exhibitions at MOCA Tucson, Nassau County Museum, Deitch Projects, New York University, The Hole, and Unit London.
