ARTIST BIO

Kayla Rumpp (b.1994) is a painter, sculptor, and educator from Tennessee, currently living in Iowa City as she pursues her MFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Iowa (2023). Her work explores the relationship between painting and sculpture, and is informed by a fascination with childlike ways of making and seeing within a practice of play. Rumpp earned a BFA in 2D Studio (2016) and a MS in Art Education (2017) from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Her work has been featured in several publications including Burnaway, The Nashville Scene, and New American Paintings, and is included in private collections across the US.
