Livy Porter (b. 1995, Los Angeles) is a Los Angeles-based artist who received her BA in studio art from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. Livy Porter’s paintings explore an intersection of personal and psychological liminality. In the series of work, Death Comes like a Gardener, Livy’s depiction of props, furniture, and accessories pose in a stage-like scene awaiting showtime. Characters have been trimmed away, neatly leaving the scene to feel empty. Livy’s work is lights, camera, non-action. We are in a waiting room.
