ARTIST BIO

Marcella Ruble is an artist and art historian. She has exhibited and sold her art and jewelry at galleries in Los Angeles, New York, Miami and Chicago. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in sculpture at the University of Illinois and a Master’s Degree in art history from the Bard Graduate Center for Studies in Decorative Arts, Design and Material Culture (BGC). Currently, Marcella works in a variety of media, including ceramics, photography, neon lighting and painting. Since her 2018 move to Rancho Mirage, she has become enchanted with the desert and the sublime beauty of the mountains. She is fascinated by the monumental stone structures found in Joshua Tree that resemble organic feminine forms. The creation of her impression of those sublime structures is exhibited here. Because of the recent attempt to remove women’s rights to control their own body, her new form has taken on added weight. Hence the name of this piece: My Body, My Choice.
