ARTIST BIO

Annie Brito Hodgin (b. 1983) is a largely self-taught artist who was born in Poughkeepsie, NY and now lives in Hendersonville, TN. Hodgin has shown work in national and international collections and exhibitions. Her current work is a meditative exploration of culpability, trauma, absurdity, repression and control. Her figures act as avatars for exploring these realities and the tensions they create. Her loose symbolism is drawn from literary and mythical references, memory, and the subconscious. Hodgin has work in national and international collections and has shown work nationally and internationally. Select exhibitions include shows at Galerie 21 Im Vorwerk-Stift, Hamburg; Stay Home Gallery and Residency, Paris, TN; The Gallery at Fort Houston, Nashville; Elephant Gallery, Nashville; and LADIES’ ROOM, Los Angeles. Her next solo show will be at Red Arrow Gallery in Nashville, TN (January 2023).
