ARTIST BIO

Karen Kuo is a Taiwanese-American painter and ceramicist based in Los Angeles. Kuo borrows from the structural optics of kaleidoscopes and mandalas to imagine scenes where natural phenomena and geometric forms are suspended in a perpetual web. Combining repeating visual patterns and densely woven scenes, Kuo’s work creates a conversation around diaristic storytelling, mysticism, and speculative world-building. She has exhibited works at Contemporary Istanbul, RISD, Cuchifritos Gallery + Project Space, LADIES’ ROOM, and One Arc Gallery, among others. Kuo received her BFA in Painting at the Rhode Island School of Design in 2015.
