ARTIST BIO

Rebecca Shippee was born in Troy, NY, and raised in Kingston, NY. She attended Purchase College and graduated in 2013 with a BFA in painting. In 2012 she completed the summer program at Norfolk School of Art. She attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2018 and graduated with an MFA in painting from Yale University in 2020. Her proudest achievement is @SignAppreciationClub, an Instagram celebrating vernacular art and non-hierarchical culture. She will be in residence in May 2022 at Atlantic Center of the Arts working with mentor Eileen Myles. She currently lives and works in Los Angeles and runs Triangle Projects, a gallery devoted to immersive art.
