ARTIST BIO

Ariel Kleinberg is a multidisciplinary artist drawing upon ancient mythology and allegory as material for a (re)visionary creative practice. They earned a BA in Ancient Greek from Vassar College and an MFA in Painting from the New York Studio School, where they were the recipient of the Hohenberg Award for European Travel. Their work has been shown recently at the Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space, the International Fusionism Museum, Art in Odd Places, Equity Gallery, and on Governors Island, where they were an Artist Fellow with the Triangle Arts Association from 2020 to 2022. This summer, they will return to the island to work on a project inspired by queer floriography and flower transformation with TransBorder Arts and the Urban Soils Institute at Swale House.
