ARTIST BIO

Seleny Bañuelos (b. 2001, Las Vegas, Nevada) was raised in Denver, Colorado. Given her love for animals, early on, she had her sights set on becoming a veterinarian. However, she fell in love with the arts in high school. Banuelos is currently studying at University of Colorado Boulder, pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Ceramics and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish (pending 2024). Driven by her Mexican upbringing, she thrives on testing and pushing the limits of clay to create functional, sculptural and installation pieces. She was selected for the 2021 King Awards Exhibition, has installed numerous exhibitions in the Visual Arts Complex during her undergrad, and participated in a group exhibition in Florida (2023). When not in the studio, Banuelos is absorbing the world, enjoying hobbies such as beading, and focusing on her mental and physical health. Her sights are set on continual growth, dreaming of a sustainable ceramic business, and having an art museum presence
